Obituary of Joseph Meuse
Peabody, October 25, 2002. Joseph Meuse, 79, of Shrewsbury and formally of Peabody, died Friday afternoon at the Radius Healthcare Center in Worcester following a brief illness. He was the devoted husband of the late Susan (Forsey) Meuse.
Born and raised in Everett, he was the son of the late Eugene and Mary (Lyons) Meuse. He attended Everett public schools and graduated from Everett High School. After High School, he joined the United States Marine Core and served 4 years during WWII. He served in Guadalcanal and Okinawa and was the recipient of 2 Purple Hearts.
After the war, he attended Boston University and received a degree in Business Administration. He worked for over 20 years as a salesman for Jordan Marsh selling major appliances. He later drove a school bus for the city of Peabody school department before retiring a few years ago.
He and his wife were very active with the North Shore Association of Retarded Children and also was a member of the Peabody Elks.
He is survived by 2 sons and daughters-in-law, John and Christine Meuse of Shrewsbury, and David and Sandra Meuse of Salem; 2 brothers, Edward Meuse of Saugus and John Meuse of Lynnfield; 3 sisters, Teresa Laspina of Wakefield, Winifred McGrath of Everett, and Margaret Moore of Wakefield; 3 grandchildren, Olivia, Ashleigh, and Jake Meuse and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the father of the late Melanie Meuse.
His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’ s Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Expressions of Sympathy can be sent to ARC, 64 Holten St., Danvers, MA 01923.
