Obituary of Maria F. (Gonsalves) Diogo

Maria F. (Gonsalves) Diogo, 37, of Peabody, died early Friday morning at her home following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Joao Diogo with whom she shared over 15 years of marriage. Born in Ponte de Lima, Portugal she was the daughter of Joaquina Gonsalves de Sa of Peabody and the late Carlos da Costa Gomes. She was raised and educated in Portugal and then in 1988 she immigrated to the United States and has been a resident of Peabody for the past 20 years. She worked as an assembler for the Millepore Medical Devise Company in Beverly for the past 17 years. Maria enjoyed gardening, but what most enjoyable to her was welcoming and entertaining of family and friends at her home. She was a loving and devoted mother and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her and who is survived by besides her loving husband and mother, including her two daughters, Sara G. Diogo and Olivia G Diogo, a brother, Manuel Carlos Gomes of Peabody, three sisters, Fernanda G. Rebelo of Salem, Rosa G, Dias of Peabody and Maria G. Gomes of Portugal, and is also survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
