Obituary of Asenath "Senie" Blake

Peabody - Asenath S. "Senie" Blake, 63, a lifelong resident and amateur historian of South Peabody, passed away unexpectedly at her home on Monday April 27, 2009. The only daughter of Mary (Hardy) Blake and Harry "Hank" Blake, she attended Peabody schools and graduated from Salem State College with a B.S. Degree in Nursing. She enlisted in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War, serving in Newport, RI, the Naval Observation in Ann Arbour, MI, and in Japan. Ms. Blake worked for many years as a Nurse at the former Lynn Hospital, The Boston Visiting Nurse Association and the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston. "Senie" loved growing up in "The Grove", and enjoyed remembering those days fondly by writing several stories that were filled with history and humor of her childhood days. She loved fishing and being outside with natural surroundings. She was especially fond of her cats. She was also a proud member of the Depot Diner in Peabody Square, Artie's Place in South Peabody, and Tuesdays at The Wardhurst. She leaves a cousin, Denise Hardy of Lynnfield, and will be remembered fondly by her good and faithful friends Mary & Becky Farrell of Peabody, Jim Knipfer, Brian & Sarah Richardson all of MI, and the Fitzgerald family of South Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Saturday May 2, 2009 from 9 to 10 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Ceremony at 10 AM in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the Nevins Farm MSPCA, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844-2052 or to a charity of one's choice.
