I am sorry to learn of Arthur's passing. I will always remember serving as the ring bearer at Art and Madeline's wedding. At times like these and living in California I miss being able to offer my condolences in person and seeing all of my Gagnon cousins who were always so good to me.

Uncle Arthur was a wonderful man. My family and I spent some fun times with Arthur and Madeline, at the old Romies Restaurant. We would laugh at his jokes and stories. When I was a kid, Uncle Arthur dug our pond out back. What fun we had playing in the mountains of muck! He was an unforgettable person, and we will miss him.

Dear Gagnon Family,

I am so sorry for your loss.

I spent my teen years on the Madge learning from, and laughing with, Art. He was like another father to me. I cherish the photo I have of us with a few of the Bruins when I caught my 525 lb. bluefin tuna and won my first tournament trophy.

I can't think of Art without smiling. He was especially proud of my ability to never get seasick, and he would prove it to his boat guests by asking me to make his favorite sandwich. He would wait for really choppy seas and then ask me go to the galley and make one for him. He would watch their faces turn green when he bit into what I called the "Art Gagnon Special" made with peanut butter... bermuda onion....and SARDINES. He would try and keep a straight face but his eyes would sparkle with glee.

He wore his heart on his sleeve and always talked about Madeline. I'm glad they are together again. And my heart knows that he has already made it a point to check on Billy O'Brien, his other first mate, who loved the Madge almost as much as Art did. It's nice to think of them together again and doin' some tuna fishin'.

Thank you for sharing him with Billy and I. I have a lifetime of memories from those summers, and I miss them both.

Lori Carlman
Beverly Harbour Marina
