Obituary of Anne (DeCoulos) (Perakis) Malliaros
PEABODY Anne (DeCoulos) (Perakis) Malliaros, beloved wife of the late Prokos James Malliaros and the late George Perakis, died unexpectedly Monday evening at the Salem Hospital following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Hallas) DeCoulos. She attended Peabody schools and graduated from Peabody High School. As one with a tremendous acumen for creative and artistic expression, she then attended the Mass School of Art and the New York School of Design. She was an accomplished Designer and Seamstress, and worked with Eleanor Sears and General Patton’ s wife, as well as other clients, friends and family.
She was a Teacher at Mass Art and Salem High School before she decided to sacrifice her cosmopolitan career for staying at home with her children and family.
Mrs. Malliaros was a member at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody for all of her life, and was involved with the Philoptohos Athena Society, and Daughters of Laconia. She also taught Greek Religious Classes at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn where her brother-in-law, Rev. Charles Mihos, served as Pastor for several years.
She is survived by: a son and daughter-in-law, James G. Perakis & Kim Cariani-Perakis; a daughter and son-in-law, Katherine & Michael Bucchiere of Peabody; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Elaine Koen of Danvers and Rev. Charles & Penelope Mihos of Lynn; eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Larson of Ipswich and her first husband, George Perakis and second husband, Prokos James Malliaros.
Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9 AM from the Conway facility at 12 Chestnut St. of the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody. Relatives and friends kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
