Obituary of Helen (George) Dixon
Helen E. (George) Dixon, 103, wife of the late Herb Dixon, died Saturday afternoon at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Helen was 22 days short of her 104 birthday.
Born in Rapid City, Manitoba, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Annie (Runions) George. She was raised in Canada on her family farm. She was baptized as a Jehovah Witness in 1921. She married Herb Dixon in 1929 and moved to Brooklyn and New Rochelle, NY, and has spent the last 39 years living in Peabody.
She was very active as a Jehovah Witness all of her adult life.
She is survived by a brother, Arnold and his wife Ivy George, of Peabody, three sisters, Lillian Petch of Peabody, Grace Weins of Toronto, Canada, and Vera Davis of Columbus, OH, and is also survived by nine nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Bessie Reeder and Louise Ivarson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 1:00 PM at the Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall on Endicott St in Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A private burial was held on Wednesday at the Maple Ave Cemetery in Patterson, NY.
