Obituary of Albert M. Riso

Albert M. Riso, 83, of Trumbull, CT, died on Friday, May 15, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers with his family at his side. Mr. Riso was born Umberto Riso, March 18, 1926, in Potenza, Italy, son of the late Luigi and Maria (Corrado) Riso. Albert immigrated to the United States with his family in 1930 making their home in Bridgeport CT. He came to Peabody 3 ½ months ago to live with his son. Albert was an accomplished mechanical and manufacturing engineer with a career that spanned for over 55 years. He worked for numerous companies in many engineering design capacities, which included Chance Vought Aircraft, Grumman, Bullard Corporation, Winchester Arms and Acme Shear. His design work included aircraft, specialized run-silent gearing, weapons design, automated manufacturing and a significant contribution to the design and manufacture of surgical staplers. Albert was also invited by NASA to apply his design skills on early Apollo missions. He was a member of The Society of Manufacturing Engineers and a lifetime member of the Fayerweather Yatch Club in Bridgeport, CT, and as hobbies he enjoyed collecting stamps and trains. Albert is survived by his son and his wife, Albert D. and Glaydes Riso of Peabody and a brother Michael Riso of Bridgeport, CT. His family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, May 18, 2009 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody. Albert’s funeral service will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home.
