Obituary of Walter M. Gill
Peabody - Walter M. Gill, 82, died Saturday morning at the Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village following a brief illness.
Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Patrick and Katherine (Mullen) Gill and was a lifelong Peabody resident and was educated in the Peabody public schools.
He served with the United States Navy during World War II, and was assigned in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre on board the U.S.S. St. Paul.
Mr. Gill worked as a Custodian with the Peabody Public Schools, mostly at the Peabody Vocational School from where he retired.
Walter was a member of the V.F.W. Post 1011 of Peabody, the U.S.S. St. Paul Association, the A.O.H. Division 11 of Peabody, the Irish Social Club of Boston, and the Peabody Historical Society.
He is survived by a brother Alfred Gill of Peabody and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his parents, by brothers Robert J. Gill and Francis P. "Mull" Gill.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home,
82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM in St. Ann's Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 â“ 8 P.M. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to a veteran's organization of one's choice.
