Obituary of Elaine Lefki Chamatsos

Peabody - Elaine Lefki Chamatsos, 32, died unexpectedly on Wednesday May 20, 2009 at the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. Born in Beverly, she was the daughter of John and Dina (Christopher) Chamatsos of Peabody. She was a lifelong resident of the city and graduated from Peabody High School. She graduated from Dean College with an Education degree. Ms. Chamatsos was a Teacher with the YMCA in Woburn. Elaine was athletic and played on the Soccer Team at Peabody High and at Dean College, and loved sports in general. Early Childhood Education was her specialty where she expressed her passion for teaching and she loved children. She was active in the Cooley's Anemia Thalassimia Foundation of New York. She is survived by: her parents, John and Dina Chamatsos of Peabody; a sister and brother-in-law, Christiana & Scott Carideo of Methuen; a niece, Valentina Carideo of Methuen; her paternal grandfather, Demetrios Chamatsos of Cyprus; her maternal grandparents, John & Chrystalla Christopher of Salem; her special close companion, Nathan Rennick of Peabody, an aunt, Chrystal Silva of Salem; two uncles, Chris Chamatsos of Cyprus and Chris Christopher of North Adams, and many cousins on the North Shore and in Cyprus. A visitation will be held on Friday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Saturday at 9 AM in the funeral home followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in St. Vasilios Church, Peabody. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
