Obituary of Arthur W. Roberts

Arthur W. Roberts TOPSFIELD Arthur W. Roberts, 87, beloved husband of Mildred (Biedron) Roberts, died Tuesday afternoon at the Kindred Hospital in Peabody following a brief illness. Born in Exeter, NH, he was the son of the late Sidney and Norma (Champagne) Roberts. He lived in Everett in his youth and attended Everett schools. Mr. Roberts worked with the Civil Conservation Corps (CCC) during the 1930’ s, then at the Hartwell Farms Restaurant in Lincoln, MA where he met his wife, and was married in 1940. He enlisted in the National Guard, then drafted into the U.S. Army where he served during World War II. After the war, he returned to work as a Welder for General Electric in Lynn, and worked in the Riverworks Plant and also the Everett facility until his retirement about 20 years ago. Mr. Roberts loved gardening, and was well known for his horticultural talents. He is survived by: his wife, Mildred (Biedron) Roberts of Topsfield, with whom he shared 65 years of marriage; two sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald & Sandra Roberts of Billerica and Scott & Jennifer Roberts of Topsfield; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra & John Fourlis of Athens, Greece; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Harris of San Clemente, CA, and several nieces and nephews. . Relatives and friends are kindly invited to his Funeral on Friday at 10 AM in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St. location, Peabody. A visitation will be held today from 5 to 8 P.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
