Obituary of Henry Rucker, Jr.

Henry Rucker, Jr., 63, of Peabody and formerly of Lynn, died suddenly Friday evening at Salem Hospital. He was the devoted husband of Susan Jackson with whom he shared over 13 years of marriage. Born in Whitmore, Arkansas, he was the son of the late John Henry and Lee Ora (Dukes) Rucker. He was raised and educated in Arkansas, later lived in Lynn and for the past 25 years, he has lived in Peabody. He worked for over 25 years as a welder for the General Electric Company at the River Works Plant in Lynn. He was also a long time member of Mount Olive Church of God in Christ in Lynn. He served in many different capacities with the church, he was a Deacon, organist, treasurer, and was an all around maintenance guy. Henry also enjoyed sports, and loved watching all of Boston’s Professional Teams. He enjoyed gardening and doing yard work, and he especially loved taking care of his Mercedes Benz. Henry will be dearly missed by his loving family and by all those who knew him and loved him in his church community. He is survived by his wife Susan Jackson of Peabody, his two sons, Henry Rucker, III and his companion, Michele Maher, both of Lynn, Jonathan Rucker of Lynn, two daughters, Patricia and her husband, Chauncey Williams, Sr., and Teresa L. Rucker of Lynn and her fiancé Michael DeFrancesco of Peabody, five brothers and four sisters-in-law, David and Jane Rucker, RC and Theresa Rucker, TC and Dorine Rucker, William and Diane Rucker and Jeff Rucker, all of Lynn, 3 sisters and a brother-in-law, Mattie Brogden of Lynn, Delores and Willie Lewis of Peabody, and Ora Mae Burris of Lynn, his mother-in-law, Julia Jackson of Peabody, a brother-in-law, Carl and his wife Lisa Jackson of Burlington, and is also survived by six loving grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and will be dearly missed by his two dogs, Carlyn and Sam. His Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Mt Olive Church of God in Christ, 20 Johnson St., Lynn to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody.
