Obituary of Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Mannix) Thompson
Dorothy L. "Dottie" (Mannix) Thompson, 84, of Peabody died Monday at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home, Peabody after a long illness. She was the wife of Sulo Thompson with whom she shared 58 years of marriage. She was born in Salem, MA on August 14, 1924 , the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Mannix and was raised and educated there graduating From Salem High School in 1940. She had resided in Peabody for the past 59 years.
She had been employed at the former J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody for 10 years and later at the Lahey Clinic at Northshore in Peabody also for 10 years prior to her retirement. She enjoyed going to Beano and helped on the Committee at Fairweather Apartments. She also liked doing crossword Puzzles but what she cherished most was taking care of her family, especially her seven grandchildren.
Surviving her besides her husband are two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and his wife Yvonne Thompson of No. Attleboro and Brian and his wife Cheryl Thompson of Swampscott, her seven randchildren, Shawn Thompson of Nantucket, Wendy and her husband Matthew Chaves of Taunton,MA, Stefanie, Kevin and Meghan Thompson all of No Attleboro, Sarah and Cameron Thompson both of Swampscott and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Kathleen Mc Kay, Raymond and Robert "Buddy" Mannix.
A visitation will be held at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 20 Church St. facility (downtown) on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM from the Funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. John's Church, Peabody at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove
Cemetery, Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Peabody Council on Aging, 79 Central St., Peabody, MA 01960 in her memory.
