Obituary of Phyllis Arline (Thompson) (Cobb) Spaulding

Phyllis Arline (Thompson) (Cobb) Spaulding, 78, of Salem, died early Tuesday morning at the Lafayette Nursing Home following a brief illness. Born in Salem, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Helen (Osgood) Thompson. She was raised and educated in Salem and was a graduate of Salem High School, class of 1948, she later lived in New Hampshire, before moving back to Salem many years ago. She worked as a secretary for Beneficial Finance in Salem, Beverly and New Hampshire for over 44 years before retiring. Phyllis was a member of the Eastern Star, loved doing crossword puzzles, was a lover of animals, and was an active member with the Salem Senior Center. Phyllis is survived by a daughter, Lynda Snow of Salem, her two loving grandchildren, Adam and Wendy Snow and great grandchild, Alix Elizabeth Young, her many nieces and nephews, who knew her as “Auntie Phoo” and by her two former husband’s, Richard Gordon Spaulding and the late Robert Willis Cobb. She was the mother of the late Robert Wayne Cobb and sister of the late William Thompson, Ruth Thompson, and Madeline Murray. Following cremation, her Funeral Service will be held on Saturday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 10:30 until 11:30 AM. Burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Salem.
