Obituary of Anthony R. "Tony" "Doc" Marino

Anthony R. Tony Doc Marino 68 years of Danvers died Wednesday morning at Salem Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr. Marino was born March 17, 1937 in East Boston son of the late Vito and Josephine (Tripoli) Marino. He was raised and educated in Swampscott. In 1954 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps and served as a Private with B Co., 2nd Bn during the Korean War. Following his enlistment he pursued his education at North Shore Community College. Prior to moving to Danvers a year ago he had resided in Beverly for many years. Since 1993, Mr. Marino was employed as a bus driver for the Peabody Council on Aging and also drove for a local limousine company. Prior to this he owned and operated the Hypnotic Center on Main Street in Peabody for many years and was known as "Doc". As an accomplished musician he had his own band known as Tony Sacco and the Playboys who played in Boston and on the North Shore. He was also a member of the cast of the Godfather’ s 50th birthday at Angelica’ s Restaurant Comedy Night in Middleton. He is survived by a daughter Ann E. Elliott of Danvers; 2 sons, Ronald J. Ron Marino and his fiancée Tiffany Baker, Anthony R. Tony Marino Jr. and his wife Rachelle Marino all of Peabody; 2 sisters, Jacqueline Jackie Falls of Newport VT and Antoinette Nina Kuian of Swampscott; 2 grandsons, Adam S. Elliott of Danvers and Ronald J. Marino Jr., of Epping NH; his companion, Elizabeth Betty Batten of Billerica; a close friend, Frederick Ambrosini of Beverly and several nieces and nephews. A grandson Joshua A. Elliott and a sibling Dominic Marino pre deceased him. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday May 28th at 11 a.m. in St. Mary Star of the Sea Church, 253 Cabot Street, Beverly. As per his request there will be no visiting hours. Memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Peabody Council on Aging, 79 Central St., Peabody MA 01960.
