Obituary of Anthony "Tony" S. Costa

Anthony “Tony” S. Costa, 54, of Peabody, died unexpectedly Sunday, June 21, 2009 at the Providence, R.I. Medical Center after taking an ill turn in Rhode Island. He was born in Peabody on September 19, 1954, the son of Lulu (Silva) Costa Smith and the late Antonio S. Costa and was raised and educated there graduating from Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1972. He was a lifelong resident of Peabody. He was first employed at the N.E. Tel and Tel. Company at the Lynn office for 10 years. He had operated the Costa Associates Tax Services of Peabody all his adult life. In his earlier years he was a waiter at the former Proctor House Restaurant and the Coach & Six Restaurant at the Holiday Inn in Peabody and also at the Beef and Oyster Restaurant in Salem. Anthony loved to go dancing and also enjoyed doing gardening. He is survived by his mother, Lulu Smith of Peabody and her companion, James Sawyer of Salem, a sister, Donna M. Costa of Peabody, his nieces and nephews, David Costa of Middleton and Donald Costa of Florida, Brian Phelan of Peabody and Luke and Dawne Vincent of Salem, his great grandnieces, Hannah Phelan and Rebekah Vincent, a sister-in-law, Darlene Costa of Spring Hill, Fl and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and loving friends. He was the brother of the late Donald M. Costa. A Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM and on Friday From 2-4 & 6-8 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Saturday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the charity of your choice.
