Obituary of Beatrice "Bea" (Lalikos) Polemenako

Salem - Beatrice "Bea" (Lalikos) Polemenako, 89, beloved wife of the late Peter Polemenako, died Friday evening at the Shaughnessy-Kaplan Rehabilitation Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Yianoula (Karidoyanis) Lalikos. She grew up in Peabody, and graduated from Peabody High School, Class of 1938. She moved to Salem where she lived for 60 years. Mrs. Polemenako and her husband had not only a lifelong commitment to each other; they also partnered in owning and operating the Dairy Witch in Salem for over 50 years, with the second generation of family still involved. Bea was a longtime member at St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church in Peabody, and was a member of the Philoptohos Society. She was involved in several community organizations, especially sponsoring the Salem Little League. She enjoyed reading to keep her mind sharp, sports in general, and was an avid Red Sox and Celtics fan. She will be remembered for her dedication and love for her family, her faith, and contributions to help others in the community. She is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Marietta and Thomas Goodridge of Salem; two grandchildren, Nicole and Peter Goodridge of Salem; two sisters, Nancy Lalikos and Constance Lalikos both of Peabody, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a son, John Polemenako, and siblings John, George, Steve, and James Lalikos, and Nellie Curabanas. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody,followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Church at 10:00 AM to which relatives and friends are kindly invited. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5 – 8 P.M. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one's choice.
