Obituary of Humberto T. Boga
Humberto T. Boga, 68, husband of Alvarina (Da Silva) Boga of Peabody, died Friday, July 10, 2009 at his home following a courageous battle with cancer. His family was at his side.
Humberto was born in Sao Jorge, Azores the son of the late Joao and Amelia (Candida) Boga. He was raised and educated in the Azores and emigrated to the United States in 1976 making his home in Peabody.
Humberto began his working career as a leather worker at Gnecco. He was then employed in the same capacity at Bobkat and retired -from Bicknell & Fuller after 33 years of employment. He loved spending time with his family and later was so proud of his 11 grandchildren whom he adored. He volunteered at Our Lady of Fatima Church and the Azorean Brotherhood Holy Ghost Society in Peabody. As hobbies he loved gardening and landscaping .
In addition to his wife with whom he shared 44 years of marriage, Humberto is survived by his children and their spouses, Lucia and Carlos Sousa, Christina and Algert Kryemadhi, Vanessa and Pedro Bettencourt all of Peabody and Joao Boga of Gloucester; his siblings, Jose Boga, Dagoberto Boga, Ilda Bettencourt all of the Azores and Ildeberta Medina of NJ; a daughter-in-law, Nelita Boga of Peabody; 11 grandchildren, Antonio, Dylan, Austin, Nadia, Eric, Desiree, Brianna and Andrew Boga, Kyle and Francisca Sousa and Hailey Bettencourt; his many nieces & nephews in the Azores, MA, RI, NY and NJ. In 2006, his son Antonio Boga predeceased him.
His funeral will be held on Wednesday, July 15, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 50 Walsh Ave., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday, July 14, 2009 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the MGH / North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem.
