Obituary of Mary Joyce (Diamond) Saunders

Hanover - Mary Joyce "Joy" (Diamond) Saunders, 94, beloved wife of the late Robert Saunders, died peacefully at her home on Friday morning in the loving company of her family. Born in Nameless Cove, Newfoundland, Canada, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Whalen) Diamond. She lived in Canada in her youth, then moved to Arlington where she lived for over 30 years. She lived in Woburn for several years before recently moving to Hanover for the last four years. Mrs. Saunders worked as a Supervisor with the Hostess Baking Company in Somerville for many years. Joyce enjoyed living her life with simplicity. She attended the Heritage United Methodist Church in Braintree, and loved being at home with her family. She is survived by: a son, James Saunders of Atlanta; a daughter, Kathleen Stenson of Hanover; five grandchildren, Michael, David, and Dennis Tovey all of ME, and Raymond and Andrea Stenson, both of Hanover; five great-grandchildren, Christine, Kellie, Cassandra, Travis and Taylor Tovey all of ME, and as the last of 11 siblings, she also leaves many nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Tovey. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday for a visitation from 11 AM to 12 Noon, followed by a Funeral Service at 12 Noon in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody.
