Obituary of Lawrence J. "Larry" Lobao

Lawrence J. “Larry” Lobao, 61, of Beverly and formerly of Peabody, died Sunday evening at his home surrounded by his family after a year long illness. He was born in Salem, MA on June 12, 1948, the son of the late Lawrence and Nellie (Brooks) Lobao and was raised and resided in Peabody most of his life before moving to Beverly 3 years ago. He was a graduate of Peabody Veterans Memorial High School in 1966. He then entered the US Air Force and served six years during the Vietnam era before his discharge in 1972. He was the leading siding contractor with the Ray Beaupre Contracting Co. of Salem for 26 years. He then became an inspector at the General Electric Company of Lynn for 7 years prior to his illness. He was a very skilled carpenter and could create many things with his hands and acted on projects fixing and replacing them long before they needed it. He was also an avid tennis player on the North Shore for many years. He was a devoted fan of the Boston Celtics and New England Patriots. Lawrence was a member and a past commander of the Portuguese American War Veterans Post 1 of Peabody. He was the former husband of Sheryl (St. Pierre) Lobao of Salem. He is also survived by his loving companion, Donna Mahoney of Beverly, his children and their spouses, Joseph and Lindsay Lobao of North Reading , Michael and Lisa Lobao of Danville, NH and Jennifer and Willliam Rodenhiser of Falmouth, MA, his two devoted sisters and brother-in-laws, Elaine and Ray Beaupre of Salem and Mary and Richard Ellis of Peabody, and was the proud "Vovo" of Austin W. Rodenhiser of Falmouth and many nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 10 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Thomas the Apostle Church at 11 AM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to The Lank Center for Genitourinary Oncology, c/o Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney ST., Boston, MA 02115 in his memory.
