Obituary of Joseph F. Sica, Jr.

Joseph F. Sica, Jr. 67, of Peabody died at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers after a three year battle with cancer. He was the husband of Barbara L. (Stanley) Sica with whom he shared 43 years of marriage. Raised in Malden, Mr. Sica was the son of the late Joseph F. and Eleanor (Bonito) Sica. He was educated in the Malden Public Schools and graduated from Malden High School. Upon graduation, Joe entered the Air National Guard where he served for six years during the Vietnam War era. Joe and Barbara made their family home in Saugus and then Peabody for the past twelve years. Until his retirement, Mr. Sica was an electronics salesman, most recently for Powerhouse Electronics. Mr. Sica chose to retire early so that he could devote his time to his musical passion. As an accomplished musician, Joe was a member of the North Shore Organ Society where he played the keyboard and the accordion. Joe was a favorite among the residents of North Shore area nursing homes and assisted living facilities where he performed. It was quite common for Joe to energize his audience where they would dance along with his music. In addition to his music, Joe loved photography and took many pictures of natural landscapes. His most prized pictures, however, were of his family, especially his grandchildren. In addition to his wife Barbara, Joe is survived by two sons and their wives, Steven J. and Barbara Sica of Wilmington, and Scott and Robin Sica of Saugus, a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Diane Sica of Peabody, three grandchildren, Taylor, Robert and Thomas, and many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Joe’s visitation which will be held on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street in Peabody. His funeral service will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the funeral home followed by burial at Puritan Lawn Memorial Park on Lake Street in Peabody. Expressions of sympathy may be made in Joe’s memory to the Hospice of the North Shore, Kaplan Family Hospice House, 75 Sylvan Street, Suite 102-B, Danvers, MA 01923.
