Obituary of Miriam Elizabeth (Young) Pechinsky

Miriam E. (Young) Pechinsky, 89, of Peabody, died Saturday at the Pilgrim Rehab and Nursing Center in Peabody after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Frank Joseph Pechinsky wo died in 1988. She was born in Peabody on April 14, 1920, the daughter of the late Charles S. and Sarah (Dyke) Young and was a lifelong resident of Peabody. Miriam was a nurturer and had enjoyed taking care of everyone’s children. She also liked doing crossword puzzles, playing scrabble and bird watching. She had attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School and had taught at Sunday School at the West Congregational Church. She had been active in the City of Peabody election committee working at the polls on election and primary days. She had been active in the PTA and liked to do jigsaw Puzzles and crocheting different articles for members of her family. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Frank J. and Sandy Pechinsky of Peabody, two daughters and sons-in-law, Sally and Edward Ballinger of Buzzards Bay, MA and Joy and Walter Spinelli of Nahant, two brothers, Richard Young of NH and John Young of VA, three sisters, Barbara Corning of Peabody, Priscilla Felt of S.C. and Lois Berry of NH, her grandchildren, Frank Pechinsky III, Jennifer Jezowski, Tarine Galvin, Gilberte, Frances, Frank and Jayne Spinelli, 6 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Janet Pechinsky, the sister of the late Charles Young Jr. and the grandmother of the late Darrin Pechinsky. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her Funeral Service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home with internment in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
