Obituary of Bernice M. Lynch Dempsey

Peabody, November 5,2002. Bernice M. (Coffey) Lynch Dempsey, 73, of Peabody, died early Tuesday morning at the Beverly Hospital following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of Henry F. Dempsey, Jr., with whom she shared 14 years of marriage. Born in Boston, she was the daughter of the late James S. Coffey, a former city councilor and State Representative for the city of Boston and Mary G. (Sullivan) Coffey. She was raised in Boston and Nahant and has resided in Peabody for over 45 years. She worked for many years for the Peabody School System and later worked and retired from Webster Industries of Peabody as a customer service representative. She attended North Shore Community College in Beverly, she was an active member of the Salem YMCA, and the South Branch Library Reading Group in South Peabody. She also enjoyed swimming, reading, and scrap booking for her grandchilren, Allie and Evan, and she enjoyed traveling and dancing. Besides her husband, she is survived by a son, John N. Lynch and his wife Susan of Peabody; a daughter, Colleen Lynch Eldridge and her husband Mark of Danvers; a brother and sister-in-law, William J, & Cornelia Coffey of Nahant; 2 grandchildren, Allison Lynch of Peabody and Evan Eldridge of Danvers, and many nieces, nephews, and beloved friends. She was the sister of the late Thomas and James Coffey and Mary (Coffey) Greenwood. Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 20 Church St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann's Church, Lynn St., Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Thursday from 4-8 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
