Obituary of Cassie Leona (Surman) Pechinsky
Cassie Leona (Surman) Pechinsky, 89, of Peabody, died Monday evening at Renaissance Gardens at Brooksby Village following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of William J. Pechinsky with whom she shared over 67 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late John and Victoria (Tarnowsky) Surman. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1937. She later graduated from Salem Commercial School in Salem.
She worked as a credit clerk for many years, mostly with the Sears Roebuck Company in various locations throughout the North Shore. She was also a long time member of St. Joseph’s Church in Peabody and a member of the Holy Rosary Society as well.
Cassie enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her including her son and daughter-in-law, Leon and Carol Pechinsky of Georgetown, her daughter and son-in-law, Elena and John Novero of Sandwich, her brother, Louis Surman of Peabody, her loving grandchildren, Geoffrey and his wife Kristin Pechinsky, Stephen and his wife Gillian Pechinsky, and Jacob, Caitlin, Molly, Aileen and Breanne Novero, and her great grandson, William Pechinsky, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Leon and Alfred Surman.
Her funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy can be sent in her name to a charity of one’s choice.
