Obituary of Paul Anthony Kent
Paul A. Kent, 64, of Salem and formerly of Peabody, died Friday morning , August 21, 2009 at the Mass General Hopsital, Boston following a short illness. He was the husband of Elaine (Bloomfield) Kent. He was born in Lynn, MA on August 6, 1945, the son of the late James and Diana (Foglietta) Kent and was raised and educated in Peabody gradating from Peabody High School in 1963. He then entered the US Air Force where he served a distinguished career at the crisis in Santo Domingo and later in Da Nang, Vietnam during the height of the War from 1964 until his discharge in December of 1967.
Following his discharge, he began his career as a lineman with A.T. &T., later Nynex and finally with Verizon for 39 years prior to his retirement 2 years ago.
Paul had been a member of the Amaral-Bailey Post 113 American Legion of Manchester-by-the-sea. He enjoyed doing gardening , going boating and puttering around the house. He was an animal lover and liked to go bird watching and looking out and taking care of all kinds of animals. He had a smart sense of humor and had been a Red Sox Fan for many years.
Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steven and Melanie Kent of Peabody and Michael Kent of Amesbury, two brothers, his twin-brother James and his wife Juliana Kent of Hamilton and Stephen and his wife Cindy Kent of Peabody, his 2 sisters, Kathy Kent and Diane and her husband Ross Bulmer all of Peabody, a grandchild, Nathan Kent of Salem, a sister-in-law and her husband, Jenny and Tom Hurn and a brother-in-law and his wife, Dick and Anne Bloomfield all of England and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was the grandson of the late Agusta Foglietta and the late Katherine Kent- Mc Mahan.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway ,Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Wednesday at 11:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Family Burial will be held at a later date.
