Obituary of Evelyn (Ostapchuk) Marchetti
Evelyn (Ostapchuk) Marchetti, 83, of Beverly and formerly of Peabody, died unexpectedly on Thursday morning at her home. She was the devoted wife of the late Columbo Marchetti with whom she shared over 58 years of marriage.
Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Mary (Zayac) Ostapchuk. She was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School and served as class secretary for the class of 1943. She has spent the last 12 years living in Beverly with her son and family.
She worked for over 40 years as a bookkeeper for JEC Tanning in Peabody and later Carr Leather in Lynn before retiring many years ago. She was very active with the Peabody Council on Aging and was a member of the Golden Agers in Peabody as well. She enjoyed Polka Dancing with her husband and traveled throughout the area going to various Polka Dances. She enjoyed cooking ethnic foods for the holidays.
Evelyn was a deeply devoted mother and grandmother, and a loving and compassionate woman who loved her church and her family, especially her grandchildren and her two great granddaughters, and will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
She was the loving mother of Philip and his wife Jean Marie Marchetti of Beverly, grandmother of Christina and her husband James Bradley of Bethesda, MD, Elizabeth Marchetti of Beverly and David Marchetti and his fiancé Melissa Riccardi, both of Beverly, she was “Babe” (great grandmother) to Alice Evelyn Bradley and Lily Jean Marchetti, she is also survived by her aunt Vickie Slobko of Wallingford, Ct and the family dog, Koby. She was the sister of the late Doris Ostapchuk.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody with a Panikhida Service held at 7:30 PM. Her service will be held on Tuesday at 9:00 AM at the Funeral Home followed by her Funeral Service at 10:00 AM at St. Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church, Forrester St., Salem, MA 01970.
