Obituary of Lydia A. (Michelazzo) Lewalski
Lydia A. (Michelazzo) Lewalski, 87, of Peabody, died Tuesday at the Avery Manor Nursing Home in Needham after a short illness. She was the wife of the late well known Peabody business man Theodore F. Lewalski. She was born in Peabody on November 20, 1921, the daughter of the late Curzio and Maria (Cigotti) Michaelazzo and was educated and resided in Peabody all her life.
During WW 11, she was employed as a machinist at the Charlestown Naval Yard. Later, after raising her children, she became a volunteer at the J.B. Thomas Hospital in Peabody for many years. She had been active in St. Ann’s Church and had been a member of the Peabody Golden Agers.
She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Connolly of Newton, two sons, Paul A. Lewalski of Peabody and Steven P. Lewalski of Melrose, a sister, Udilla Reid of Waltham, eight grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Wayne Lewalski and the sister of the late Eleanora Ward.
A visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Her funeral will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Ann’s Church, So. Peabody at 10:00 A.M. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Expressions of sympathy may be made to Hospice of No Shore, 75 Sylvan St., Suite 102-B, Danvers, MA 01923 or to the Wellspring House of Gloucester, 302 Essex Ave., Gloucester, MA 01930 in her memory.
