Obituary of Barbara A. (McCarthy) Brigley

Barbara A. (McCarthy) Brigley, 73, of Peabody, died Wednesday morning at the NSMC Salem Hospital after a long illness with Kidney disease. She was the devoted wife of Donald Brigley Sr. She was born in Peabody on March 24, 1936, the daughter of the late William and Vera Ruth (Cox) McCarthy and was a life long resident here graduating from Peabody High School in 1954. She then was employed for five years before her marriage at the then GTE Sylvania in Salem. She had raised and nurtured her family and also loved doing arts and crafts. She helped organize the Craft show at Brooksby Farm in Peabody for many years. She was a loyal Red Sox Fan and enjoyed watching the Cooking Channel on TV. She had been a member of the Italian American Club of Peabody and the Franco American Club of Beverly. Surviving her besides her Husband, Donald are a son, Donald W. Brigley Jr. of Peabody, two daughters, Lori Brigley of Peabody and Donna Brigley and her companion, Jay Pransky of Gonic, NH, a grandson, Ethan Savluk of Gonic, NH, her siblings, Edward Mc Carthy and Michael and his wife Nancy McCarthy, a sister-in-law, Nancy McCarthy and a brother in law, John O'Brien all of Peabody and several nieces and nephews including Diane Broughton of Peabody. She was the sister of the late William, James and John McCarthy, and her sister and best friend Louise O’Brien. A Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. A Funeral Service will be held there on Saturday at 11:30 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
