Obituary of Catherine A. "Tina" (Pisano) Mallia
Catherine A. “Tina” (Pisano) Mallia, 82, wife of Lawrence “Larry” J. Mallia of Danvers, died on Friday, September 25, 2009 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers.
Tina was born in Peabody, on February 11, 1927, the daughter of the late George and Carmela (Castronova) Pisano. She was raised in Peabody, graduated from Peabody High School Class of 1943 and attended Burdett College for 2 years with a major in bookkeeping. She resided in Peabody moving to Danvers in 2000.
Tina was employed for 30 years as a bookkeeper at the Peabody Cash Market in 1978. She was then employed in the same capacity for 15 years at Commonwealth Distributing in Peabody and from 1993 until her retirement in 2004 at Anthony’s Restaurant in Swampscott. Tina devoted her life to her family and later was so proud of her grandchildren and her great grandchild. She was a member of the Italian American Citizens Ladies Auxiliary Club in Peabody, enjoyed cooking and traveled extensively worldwide.
In addition to her husband with whom she shared 61 years of marriage, she is survived by her children, Janet A. Bussone of Danvers, and Lawrence “Larry” Mallia Jr. and his wife Deborah of Groveland; a sister, Grace Stansfield of Peabody; 4 grandchildren, Tina Bussone of Washington DC, Thomas Bussone III of Boston, Nicholas Mallia of Groveland and Kristen Mallia of Groveland; a great granddaughter, Ava Bussone of Arlington; many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, September 28, 2009 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn Street, Peabody, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, September 27, 2009 from 3 to 7 p.m. Burial in St. Joseph Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial contributions may be made to the Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty St., Danvers MA 01923.
