Obituary of Walter V. Pilkons

Walter V. Pilkons PEABODY—Walter V. Pilkons, 85, beloved husband of the late Elaine (Damaris) Pilkons, died Sunday morning October 4, 2009 at Brooksby Village in Peabody after a long illness. Born on November 18, 1923 in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Sevier and Anna (Krukonis) Pilkons. He lived there in his youth and graduated from Cambridge Ridge Tech High School. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in England, France and Germany. He was part of Battery B of the 776th Anti Aircraft Division which was under General Patton's Third Army during the Battle of the Bulge in 1944. Mr. Pilkons worked for over 40 years at the General Electric Company in both Everett and Lynn, retiring in 1986. Walter was an avid reader, card player, bowler, dancer and enjoyed spending time with his family and at the Torigian Life Senior Center in Peabody. He is survived by his children, Marie & her husband Paul Theriault of CT, Walter T. & his wife Dee Pilkons of Peabody, Chris & his wife Susan Pilkons of Vernon, CT, Merry & her husband Kenneth Nordeen of Wakefield, and Paul Pilkons of Peabody; a sister, Brenda Bates of Norwood, several grandchildren and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death, besides his wife and parents, by a sister Veronica Bunevich. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Thursday at 10 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial at 11 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1 – 3 and 6 – 8 P.M. in the funeral home. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem
