Obituary of Maureen P. (Donahue) Silva

Maureen P. (Donahue) Silva, 77, of Peabody, died on Tuesday, October 6, 2009 with her family at her side at the Rosewood Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Peabody. Maureen was born in Lynn, November 25, 1931, daughter of the late Joseph E. Donahue, Agnes G. (Deary) Donahue Quinn and stepfather John Quinn. She was raised in Salem and graduated from Salem High School Class of 1949 and has been a resident of Peabody since 1953. Maureen worked in the family business at Tremont Market in Peabody for 20 years, and later was employed as a commercial lines underwriter’s assistant for 14 years with General Accident Insurance Company of America until her retirement. Maureen dedicated her life to her family and was extremely involved with the Peabody Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps. Later her family included 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Surviving Maureen are one daughter, Faith-Anne “Missy” McKinnon and her husband James of Peabody, with whom she lived; two sons, Glenn J. Silva and his wife Bonnie Jean of Georgetown, Brian F. Silva and his wife Debbie of Peabody; 7 grandchildren, Thomas McKinnon and his wife Erin, James McKinnon and his wife Nancy, and Matthew McKinnon all of Peabody, Nicholas Silva and Brian Silva Jr. both of Beverly, Tracey Silva and her husband David of Peabody and Shauna Silva of Georgetown; 5 great grandchildren, Jake, Dylan, Isabella and Natalia Silva and Kaila McKinnon; a step brother, John Quinn of Lynn. Maureen was also predeceased by her loving son Craig T. Silva. Her funeral will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2009 at 8 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Friday, October 9, 2008 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
