Obituary of Leonard F. Agneta

Leonard F. Agneta, 59, devoted husband of Julia R. Harrington of Peabody, died unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, October 8, 2009. Leonard was born in Cambridge, November 30, 1949, the loving son of Joseph F. and Ann T. (Traveis) Agneta of Somerville. He was raised in Somerville and graduated from Somerville High School Class of 1968. In 1970, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served as a SP4 until being honorably discharged in 1972. He then pursued his education at Bentley College for 2 years. Leonard resided in Beverly Farms before moving to Peabody in 1999. Leonard was employed for 33 years as a systems expert with the telephone company retiring from Verizon in 2003. In addition to the telephone company, he was also a licensed real estate agent and member of the Massachusetts Real Estate Association. Leonard was family oriented, warmhearted and loved being around children. As hobbies he enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. In addition to his wife with whom he shared 19 years of marriage and his parents of Somerville, he is survived by 2 loving sons, David Agneta of Bedford, and Peter Agneta and his wife Amy of PA; his cherished siblings and their spouses, Ann T. Agneta of Winthrop, Mary Beth and Joseph Tringali of Nashua NH, Stephen J. and Susan Agneta of Shrewsbury; a cherished granddaughter, Bella Agneta of PA; 3 nieces and 2 nephews and many dear friends. His funeral will be held on Tuesday, October 13, 2009 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Monday, October 12, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial in Cambridge Cemetery, Cambridge. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Leonard F. Agneta to the Boston Higashi School for Autism, C/O Development Office, 800 North Main St., Randolph, MA 02368.
