Obituary of Peter Romanuk

Peter Romanuk, 82, of Peabody died unexpectedly Friday at his home. He was born in Peabody on January 16, 1927 the son of Lena Romanuk and was educated and resided here all his life. He entered the US Army during WW 11 serving as a paratrooper prior to his discharge in 1946. He had been employed with the City of Peabody public works Department for almost 40 years rising to the office of Superintendent of Streets prior to his retirement 17 years ago. He had been a member of the Peabody Lodge of Elks # 1409 for several years and he enjoyed taking road trips and vacations throughout the country. He was the former husband of Ruth (Leinbach) Romanuk. Surviving him are his children and their spouses, Gregory and Gail Romanuk of Gloucester, Leina De Simone of Lowell, Sandra and Robert Harvey of Salem, MA, Sherry Maltese of Tampa, Fl and Marsha and Harold Pottoff of Illinois, his companion of forty years, Ellie Murphy of Salem and her children Jack Murphy, Joanne Davis and Allan Murphy, 23 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. His Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. A Visitation will be held on Monday from 4-8 PM. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery.
