Obituary of Christopher N. Barnes

Christopher N. Barnes Haverhill—Christopher N. Barnes, 20, beloved son of James and Linda (Mattuchio) Barnes of Haverhill, died peacefully Friday evening at the Children’s Hospital in Boston with his family by his side. Born in Boston, he was a lifelong resident of Haverhill, where he attended schools. Christopher was involved with the St. James School Teach Program where he learned about cooking and food that he loved so much. He was very active in the Special Olympics and participated in basketball, softball, swimming, and soccer. He enthusiastically enjoyed WWF Wrestling, and music of all types. He also liked bowling, and social gatherings with family and friends. He is survived by: his parents, James & Linda (Mattuchio) Barnes of Haverhill; a sister, Lauren Barnes all of Haverhill; his maternal grandparents, Ernest & Theresa Mattuchio of Peabody; his paternal grandfather James Barnes of FL; he was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, the late Elizabeth Barnes. He also leaves 12 aunts and uncles, Un & Debbie Amighi of No. Andover, Art & Denise McCarthy of Reading, Rick & Kathy Langlois of FL, Bobby & Karen Barnes of Hopkinton, Brian & Lynne Barnes of Peabody, and John & Leah Barnes of Danvers; 14 cousins, Dan, Caroline, Tim, Michael, Kate, Chris, Marc, Michael, J.R., Megan, Patrick, Connor, Brent, and Coady, and many loving friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4 – 8 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Wednesday at 9 AM from the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 AM in St. Adelaide’s Church, 708 Lowell St., Peabody. Burial will follow in Haverhill. Memorial donations may be made to the Christopher Barnes Memorial Fund, c/o Pentucket Bank, 395 Lowell Ave., Haverhill, MA 01832 in honor of Christopher’s favorite charities of Children’s Hospital, Jimmy Fund, and Special Olympics.
