Obituary of Atty. Michael E. Tyler Esq.

Attorney Michael E. Tyler Esquire, of Peabody, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 15, 2009 after a valiant battle with cancer. Mike was known for his grace and charm, his quick wit and impromptu storytelling which captivated generations, including his three children, seven grandchildren and their friends. He graduated from Governor Dummer Academy in 1957, Boston University in 1961 and Suffolk Law School in 1968. He was a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association. The flag flew at half-mast in Topsfield where he was a selectman in the seventies and had been a well known attorney there. He and his former wife, Carlotta Regan Tyler, raised three wonderful children during the 32 years in Topsfield. A notable athlete whose involvement with sports spanned several decades. Mike was a pairs Roller-skating champion at Rollerdome in Brockton in the forties; a catcher for the semi- Professional Cape League in the fifties; and a stalwart quarterback for the Box Toppers in the annual Thanksgiving Day football game in the eighties. A dedicated forty-year golfer, Mike could be seen playing golf on courses from Maine to Florida and North Carolina to California. He was loved and will be missed by his daughters, Sloan and Page, his son Gregory and son-in-law Jim and seven grandchildren, Toby, Madison, Griffin, Chloe, Isabella, Graham and Payton and his many loving friends. A service for his family and friends will be held at a later date.
