Obituary of Olive M. (Dorman) Cullen
Olive M. (Dorman) Cullen, 87, of Peabody and formerly of Westfield, died Tuesday afternoon at Union Hospital in Lynn following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Walter F. Cullen, Sr.
Born in Westfield, she was the daughter of the late Earl and Genevieve (Arquette) Dorman. She was raised and educated in Westfield and was a graduate of Westfield High School. She has lived in Peabody for the past 56 years.
She was a receptionist at the GTE Sylvania Plant in Danvers until 1972, and then attended Blaine Beauty School and worked as a hairdresser until her retirement.
Olive was active in St. Ann’s Parish and was a member of the Ladies Sodality and a Sunday School Teacher. She also was active at Bishop Fenwick High School in Peabody and St. Mary’s Girls High School in Lynn. She loved dancing and spending time with her friends, family, and especially her grandchildren.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Walter F. Cullen Jr, and his wife Mary of Ipswich, two daughters and a son-in-law, Patricia L. Shea of Georgetown and Maureen and Charles Baker of Peabody, her grandchildren, Michael, Timothy, and Maureen Shea, Charles, David, Stephen, and Cheri Baker, Kevin Cullen, Kathleen Zimmerman and Elizabeth Cullen, her great grandchildren, Brett, Rylei, Ysabel, and Angelica Baker, Ryan and Oscar Shea, and Mia Zimmerman, and is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and was a Foster Mother to many children including Joan Rose Harding and Bruce David Elliott. She was the sister of the late Lee Deane and Edna Deane.
Her funeral service will be held on Saturday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. Ann’s Church, Peabody to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the Crohn’s & Colitis Foundation of American, 386 Park Ave South, 17th Floor, New York, NY 10016.
