Obituary of Daniel S. Andrade

Daniel S. Andrade, 93, of West Peabody, died Saturday evening at the Lahey Clinic North Hospital after a short illness. He was the husband of Isaura Reni (Joia) Andrade with whom he shared 50 years of marriage. He was born in Cape Verde Island on September 19, 1916, the son of the late Peter and Palmira (Sousa) Andrade and was raised and resided there before coming to Chelsea 54 years ago. While in Cape Verde, he had been a cobbler running his own shoe repair business. He moved to Peabody in 1976 and was employed as a mechanic at the Emerson Textile Company of Chelsea for many years prior to his retirement 40 years ago. He played soccer in his youth and also was a wrestler and boxer in Cape Verde. He was a devoted family man who loved his children and grandchildren. Surviving him besides his wife are his children, Daniel Andrade Jr. of Germany, David J. Andrade of Peabody, Edith J. Sales of TN, Adam J. Andrade of Reading, Abel Andrade Lopes of Dorchester, Avelino C. Andrade of Monroe NJ, Nataniel C. Andrade of Halifax, MA, Orlando C. Andrade of Pawtucket, RI, Anita Bennett and Maria Barros both of Pawtucket, RI and Mariana Simas Sal of Cape Verde, his brothers, David and Joel Andrade of Pawtucket, RI, his 3 sisters, Esther Dalomba and Elsea Cooper both of Pawtucket, RI and Ruth Rezendes of RI and many grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 9:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody location. His funeral will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in the Calvary Christian Church, 47 Grove St., Lynnfield at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park Peabody. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
