Obituary of Thelma M. (Barnes) Bulmer Spousta

Thelma M. (Barnes) Bulmer- Spousta Thelma M. (Barnes) Bulmer/ Spousta, 88, of Beverly and formerly of Peabody and Mashpee, died peacefully Friday evening at the Essex Park Nursing Center in Beverly after a long illness. She was the former wife of the late Peabody City Councilor Allan E. Bulmer and the late Robert F. Spousta. She was born in Revere, MA on May 2, 1921, the daughter of the late Burton Ellis and Elinor (Ross) Barnes and was raised in Georgia and Florida before returning to Massachusetts. She had resided in Peabody for 36 years and later in Mashpee for 20 years before moving to Beverly 2 years ago. While living in Peabody she was active in the West Peabody Community Club and had taught Sunday school at the West Congregational Church. She was also a Den Mother for many years there. She had been a secretary at the General Electric Company in Lynn prior to her marriage. She later had worked for various insurance Companies as a secretary prior to her retirement. She enjoyed kite flying, bowling and working in her garden. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Diane Bulmer of West Peabody and Robert and Debra Bulmer of Lynn, her grandchildren, Jonathon, Shannon and James Bulmer and Matthew Barker, a great granddaughter, Madison Bulmer and several nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Ross William Barnes who was killed while serving in the US Army during WW 11, Burton Ellis Barnes Jr. and Elnora Haywood. Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Funeral Home. Burial will be private. Expressions of sympathy may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472 in her memory.
