Obituary of Myra L. Carpenter

Danvers, November 20, 2002. Myra L. (Tuck) Carpenter, 92, of Danvers and formally of Eastman Park, Peabody and Winter Haven, Fla., died early Wednesday afternoon at the Danvers Nursing and Rehab Center, following a brief illness. She was the wife of the late Philip J. Carpenter, Sr., with whom she shared 58 years of marriage, and was also a former Compositor of 50 years for the Gloucester Times and 23 years with the Lynn and Malden Papers. Born in Gloucester, on February 1, 1910, she was the daughter of the late George C. Tuck Sr., & Edith (Hinkley) Tuck. She was raised in Gloucester and attended Gloucester Public Schools, and a graduate of Gloucester High School. She had lived in Peabody for 30 years, Winter Haven Fla., for 5 years and has spent the last 5 years living in Danvers. She was a secretary who worked for General Electric in Lynn and she also worked as a bookkeeper in Winter Haven, Fla. She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Lynn as well as the Women’ s Social Groups at her church. She is survived by 2 sons and daughter-in-laws, Timothy D. & Linda Carpenter of Lowell and Philip & Vivian Carpenter Jr., of Gilford, NH; a brother, George Tuck, Jr. of Lake City, Fla.; 4 grandchildren, Kristina and Gretchen Carpenter, both of Salem and Leigh and Lindsay Carpenter, both of Gilford, NH; and several nephews and cousins. She was the sister of the late Winifred Henderson, Edith McCallum and Evelyn Tuck. A memorial service will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. A visitation will be held prior to the service from 5-8 PM. Burial will be private at the Beach Brook Cemetery, Gloucester. Contributions may be made in her memory to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 93 Euclid Ave., Lynn, MA.
