Obituary of Elizabeth Catherine (Foley) Powers

Elizabeth C. ( Foley) Powers PEABODY—Elizabeth C. (Foley) Powers, 88, beloved wife of the late Ernest Powers, Sr., passed away on Tuesday November 3, 2009 at the Heart and Vascular Institute of University Hospital in Evans, GA. Born in Chelsea on May 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Alice (Winott) Foley. Elizabeth was a graduate of St. Rose School, Higgins Business College, and later attended Essex Agricultural Technical College in Food Management. She worked for many years at the Elmhurst Retirement Home in Melrose as a Dietary Cook Supervisor. Mrs. Powers was a resident of Peabody for many years. She moved to Georgia shortly after the death of her beloved husband, Ernest in 2000. She was a communicant of St. Adelaide’s Church in West Peabody, and St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church in Augusta, GA. Elizabeth will be remembered as a very special person who dedicated her life to her family as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend. She is survived by: two daughters and sons-in-law, Mabelle & her husband Dr. Steven T. Hackman of Evans, GA, with whom she lived and Amy & her husband Richard Wilson of Shelby Township, MI; two daughters-in-law, Dorothy Powers of Middleboro, MA and Irmgard Powers of Belle Terre, NY; eight grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death, besides her husband and parents, by two sons Ernest Powers, Jr. and Frederick Dean Powers, and brothers James Foley, Frederick Foley, Robert Foley and William Foley. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a Graveside Funeral Service on Saturday November 14, 2009 at 2:15 P.M. in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett
