Obituary of Irene V. (Bennett) Lapukas

Irene V. (Bennett) Lapukas, 77, wife of Stanley J. Lapukas of Lynnfield, died on Thursday, November 12, 2009 at the Lahey Hospital in Burlington. Mrs. Lapukas was born in Revere, on September 18, 1932 the daughter of the late Charles and Mildred (Llewlyn) Bennett. She was raised in Lynn and graduated from Lynn English High School Class of 1951. In 1960, Irene moved to Lynnfield where she has since resided. Irene was a Real Estate Broker who began her working career at Century 21 in Lynnfield, and retiring from Hunneman-Coldwell Banker of Lynnfield in 2001 a position she held for 20 years. Irene will also be remembered as the head hostess at Augustine’s Restaurant in Saugus and also as the owner of the King Neptune Restaurant in Malden during the mid 1980’s. Since her retirement Irene has been enjoying her grandson Thomas whom she cherished. As hobbies, she enjoyed reading, cooking and she also traveled extensively with her husband. In addition to her husband with whom she shared 56 years of marriage, she is survived by her son, Stephen M. Lapukas of Lynnfield; a daughter and her husband, Lisa M. and Sal Sciaudone of Lynnfield; a grandson, Thomas S. Sciaudone of Lynnfield; a brother, George Bennett of Saugus and many nieces and nephews. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 16, 2009 at 9 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a service at 10 a.m. at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 74 S. Common Street, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, November 15, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery, Lynnfield.
