Obituary of Rosalia "Rose" (Klusek) Wowk

Rosalia “Rose” (Klusek) Wowk, 91, of Peabody, wife of the late Demetrius Wowk, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 with her family at her side at Salem Hospital. Mrs. Wowk was born on December 24, 1917, in Lubcza, Poland, daughter of the late Joseph and Anna (Grochola) Klusek. She was raised in Poland and immigrated to the United States in 1957 making her home in Salem before moving to Peabody in 1959. Mrs. Wowk was a homemaker who dedicated her life raising her 7 children and who later became the proud grandmother of 11 and great grandmother of 2. Her children described their mother as a caring and giving person who never forgot her heritage. She would help anyone in need and on many occasions sent clothing and other needed items to family members in Poland. Mrs. Wowk is survived by her children and their spouses, Joseph and Marsha Wowk of Peabody, Maria Wowk, John Wowk both of Beverly, Sophia and Gary Cameron, Olga and Mark Cameron all of Salisbury, Helen and Frank Coombs of West Barnstable, and Frank Wowk of Peabody; a former daughter-in-law, Donna Wowk of Beverly; 11 grandchildren, Sean, Stefania, Christina, Jennifer, Chelsei, Melanie, Eric, Nicole, Kristen, Jocelyn and Tristan; 2 great granddaughters, Faith and Charlotte and many nieces and nephews. Her 2 brothers and 3 sisters who resided in Poland predeceased her. Her funeral will be held on Monday, November 23, 2009 at 10 a.m. from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. John the Baptist Church, 16 Church St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Sunday, November 22, 2009 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the 82 Lynn St. facility. Burial in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
