Obituary of Geraldine M. (Dunne) Toler

Geraldine M. (Dunne) Toler, 74, of Peabody, died Friday evening at Salem Hospital following a lengthy illness. She was the devoted wife of the late David O. Toler. Born in Peabody, she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Ellen (O’Connell) Dunne. She was a life long resident of Peabody and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School, class of 1952. She continued her education and received her Bachelors Degree from Boston College in 1957 and then earned her Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern University. Geraldine taught for over 32 years as an elementary teacher in Roxbury and Wakefield and Special Needs teacher for the North Shore Education Consortium in Beverly before retiring in 2002. She was very active in Our Lady of Assumption Church in Lynnfield and was a member of the choir for many years. She also was an active alumnus of Boston College and enjoyed her reunions for the class of 1957. She is survived by six children, Brenda and her husband Bruce Etzel of Danvers, Christopher and his wife Cheryl Toler of Swampscott, Kevin and his wife Jennifer Toler of Beverly, Kerry Toler of Peabody, Mary and her husband Joseph Flot of Salem and Monica Toler of Peabody, she is also survived by six grandchildren, Timothy and Cait Etzel, Ceili and Alanna Flot, and Julia and Meghan Toler. She was the sister of the late Eugene Dunn. Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Assumption Church, Lynnfield to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM. Burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Peabody.
