Obituary of Harry Ogden, Jr.

Harry Ogden, Jr. PEABODY—Harry Ogden, Jr., 78, beloved husband of Elizabeth “Betty” (Higgins) Ogden, died Wednesday morning in Peabody following a seven month battle with cancer. Born in Methuen, he was the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Hoey) Ogden, Sr. He lived in Methuen in his youth, and graduated from Methuen High School, Class of 1948. He then graduated from Wentworth Institute in Boston, Class of 1952 before going into the Service. He was a Veteran of the Korean War, with service in the United States Army. Mr. Ogden enjoyed a 40 year professional career with General Electric, the Riverworks Plant in Lynn where he was a Foreman and Construction Supervisor. He enjoyed many activities, especially traveling, investing in the stock market, and walking his dog Kristy. An avid reader, he also enjoyed playing cards, and going to the horse and dog tracks. He is survived by: his wife, Elizabeth “Betty” (Higgins) Ogden of Peabody, with whom he shared 36 years of marriage; four sons Harry Ogden of Dracut, David and his wife Lizeth Ogden of Tyngsboro, Scot Ogden and Paul Ogden both of Dracut; 12 grandchildren, Michael Ogden, Robert Ogden and Lindsay Ogden all of Dracut; Jeffrey Ogden of Tyngsboro, Kelly Ogden of Groton, John Ogden and Ashley of Tyngsboro, David Ogden of Mancester, NH, Colleen Lessard of SC, and Erika Ogden, Joseph Ogden, and Jennifer Ogden all of Tewksbury; as well as seven great-grandchildren; a sister, Vera Keating of Methuen; a sister-in-law Lillian & her husband Stanley Colburn of Ipswich, a brother-in-law Angus & his wife Donna Higgins of Ipswich and several nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday morning Nov 30th from 10:30 A.M. to 12 Noon at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. A Funeral Service will be held at 12 Noon, followed by burial with Military Honors in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the MGH/North Shore Cancer Center, 102 Endicott St., Danvers, MA 01923.
