Obituary of Michael D. "Mike" DiGiulio
Michael D. “Mike” DiGiulio, 61, husband of Cynthia F. Palaro of Wilmington, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009 after being stricken at his home.
Mike was born on July 14, 1948, in Winthrop, son of Frances C. (Spano) Hafey of East Boston and the late Michael A. DiGiulio. He was raised in East Boston by his mother and his late stepfather Albert W. Hafey, and graduated from East Boston High School Class of 1966. Following his high school graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Army, served a tour of duty in Vietnam and received his honorable discharge on September 11, 1972. Before making his home in Wilmington in 1999, Mike resided in Revere and Peabody.
For the past 13 years, Mike as been employed as a retail storeowner along with his wife Cindy of Sunline Patio and Fireplace in Danvers. Mike began his working career as an automobile salesman before becoming a manager for Nissan of Lynnfield and Newton a position he held for 25 years. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed watching the Red Sox, Celtics and Patriots.
In addition to his wife of Wilmington and his mother of East Boston, Mike is survived by his children, Michael J. DiGiulio and his fiancée Cassandra Firmbach of Worcester, Stacey L. Wluka of Easton, Sydney J. DiGiulio and Diana R. DiGiulio of Wilmington; his 2 sisters and their spouses, Geraldine A. and Alfredo Rios of Brooklyn NY, and Christina N. and John Foscaldo of East Boston; 5 grandchildren, Zachary, Skylar and Jadyn Wluka of Easton, Lorenzo and Angelo DiGiulio of Worcester; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Gene P. and Lisa Palaro of Saugus, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
His funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2009 at 11:30 a.m. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. Visiting hours are Wednesday, December 9, 2009 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his memory to the Wide Horizons for Children, 38 Edge Hill Rd., Waltham, MA 02451-1716. Cremation will follow the services.
