Obituary of Antonio Jorge Duarte

Peabody, November 25, 2002. Antonio Jorge Duarte, 75, of Tremont St. Peabody, died early Monday morning at the Rainbow Nursing Home following a brief illness. He was the husband of Silvina (da Cunha) Duarte. Born and raised in Portugal, he had lived there for most of his youth before immigrating to the United States, and has resided in Peabody for the past 34 years. He worked for the Salem Suede Company for many years and also as a machine operator for Parker Brothers before retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of CLC Club and Continental Association, both of Peabody. He also enjoyed gardening and was a communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody. Besides his loving wife, he is survived by a son, Carlos Duarte of Saugus; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosa and Francisco Alves of Salem; a grandson, Jonathan Alves of Salem and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Augusto Rodrigues, Zulmira Augusto, and Carmina Rodrigues. His Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 8:00 AM from the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 12 Chestnut St., Peabody Facility, followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 9:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visitation on Tuesday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Burial in St. Mary’ s Cemetery, Salem.
