Obituary of Nicolino Benevides

Nicolino Benevides, 68, of Peabody died Tuesday morning at the Peabody Glen Nursing Home Peabody after a long illness. He was the husband of Maria (Rebelo) Benevides with whom he shared 44 years of marriage. He was born in St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal on May 14, 1941, the son of the late Manuel and Silvana (Soares) Benevides and was raised and educated there before moving to Peabody 22 years ago. He had been an assembler at Altron Company in Wilmington for three years prior to his disability retirement. He loved to go hunting and had been a member of Our Lady of Fatima Church. Surviving him besides his wife are two sons and daughters-in-law, John and Natasha Benevides of New Boston, NH and Nicolino and Lucia Benevides of St. Miguel, Azores, Portugal, Three brothers, John Benevides of Fall River, Carlos and Silverio Benevides both of Toronto, Canada, four sisters, Leonina Vicente of Portugal, Eduarda Ponte, Genoveva Benevides and Juvenalia Benevides all of Fall River, MA, his six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Salem. Relatives and friends are kindly invited.
