Obituary of James X. Vanasse

James X. Vanasse PEABODY—James X. Vanasse, beloved husband of Jeanette (Palumbo) Vanasse of Peabody, died Saturday morning, December 26 in the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers following a brief illness. Born in Weymouth, he was the son of the late Arthur and Annie (Kelly) Vanasse. He lived in Weymouth in his youth where he attended schools. He graduated from Weymouth High School. He lived in Malden for many years, and lived in Peabody for the last 15 years. Mr. Vanasse went into the United States Army during World War II. He was employed with the Malden Post Office over 25 years before retiring. James enjoyed gardening and golf. He mostly enjoyed simply spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren. He will be dearly missed, and is survived by: his wife Jeanette (Palumbo) Vanasse of Peabody, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage; he was a devoted father of Janet Murphy and husband Henry of Melrose, Diane Vanasse-Kahn and her husband Steven of Peabody, and Linda DiMare of Wilmington and a son-in-law, Robert DiMare of Revere; he was a cherished grandfather of 7, including Diana & Brian Murphy, Zachary & Vanessa Kahn, Joseph & Rachelle DiMare, and was preceded in death by late Danielle DiMare. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Tuesday Dec 29 from 4 – 7 P.M. in the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St. location, Peabody. Relatives & friends are kindly invited to gather at the funeral home on Wednesday Dec. 30, 2009 at 8:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 9:30 AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Peabody. Burial follows in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to The Kaplan Family Hospice House, 78 Liberty Street, Danvers, MA 01923.
