Obituary of Peter P. Adamopoulos

Peter P. Adamopoulos, 92, of Peabody, died peacefully at his residence on Tuesday, December 29, 2009 after a brief illness. He was the husband of Angie (Andrianopoulos) Adamopoulos with whom he shared 63 years of marriage. He was born in Lowell, MA on February 2, 1917, the son of the late Apostolos and Evangeline (Katsiris) Adamopoulos and resided there for 15 years before moving to Peabody 78 years ago. He had been employed in the leather industry in Peabody as an embosser at the former Verza Tanning Company for over 35 years prior to his retirement. Peter was a veteran of WW 11, serving in the Pacific Theatre Campaign as a paratrooper with the US Army Air Corps. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Red Sox and liked going to the races at Suffolk Downs. He had been a member of the Jordan Lodge of Masons A.F. & A.M. of Peabody. Surviving him besides his wife are a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Elaine Adamopoulos of Peabody, two grandchildren, Lisa Adamopoulos of Lynn and Andréa Collier of Peabody, a great grandson, Chase Nunamaker of Lynn and many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James and Costas Adamopoulos, Stella Siakallis, Georgia Dover, and Ann Gaudrealt. A Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home at the 82 Lynn St., Peabody facility. His Funeral will be held on Thursday at 9:00 AM from the Funeral Home followed by Services in St. Vasilios Greek Orthodox Church, Peabody at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Salem.
