Charity Berniece (Day) Regens
EAST BOSTON—Charity Berniece (Day) Regens, 76, died Tuesday December 22, 2009 at the Eastpointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Chelsea following a brief illness.
Born in Dyburg, Tennessee, she was the daughter of the late Humphrey and Jennie (French) Day. She lived there in her youth and graduated from Dyburg High School. She moved to the Boston area where she lived for the last 50 years.
Mrs. Regens was a very resourceful person who was gifted with the ability to accomplish many tasks. She was always willing to help anyone, and served others by cooking, cleaning and was a nurse’s aide among other roles at various times in her life. She has been retired for 25 years.
“Berniece”, as she was affectionately known, was a Church Evangelist active in the choir, as an usher, or wherever needed. As a faithful person she enjoyed the opportunity to inspire others and fulfill her calling.
She will be dearly missed by her family, and friends, and is survived by: her children, Jeannette & her husband Ray Edwards of Boston, Joseph Light of TN, Carol Hamilton of FL, Stephen Regens of Boston, Christopher & his wife Maryann Regens of Brockton, Heavear Regens of East Boston, Herrett Michael & his wife Darlene Regens of Saugus, Hearear Michelle & her husband George Norris of Lynn, and the late Humphrey Regens; she leaves 18 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild. . She was the sister of Jean Paulette Day and Mary Day, both of Boston, Margaret Bonilla of Quincy, George P. Day of Boston and Perry Day of Quincy, and she leaves many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to a visitation on Saturday Jan 2, 2010 from 9:30 – 10 AM in the Greater Bethel Pentecostal Church, 21 Light St., Lynn followed by a Funeral Service at 10 AM in the church. Burial will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
