Obituary of Peter A. Jacobitz

Peter A. Jacobitz, 89, of East Boston and formerly of Peabody, died January 2, 2010 at the Spaulding Hospital in Cambridge following a brief illness. He was the former husband of Natalie (Chaprastain) Jacobitz and Nena (Miron) Jacobitz. Born in Peabody, he was the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Dulewicz) Jacobitz. He was raised and educated in Peabody and was a graduate of Peabody High School, class of 1938. After high school, Peter entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II, and was honorably discharged in August of 1943. After the war, Peter attended Night Classes at Harvard University for a shore period of time. He later lived in Tewksbury and has spent the last 30 years living in East Boston. Peter was a well known and respected professional photography who worked for over 30 years in the Boston Area and was the recipient numerous awards. After his retirement from photography, Peter continued his interest in the arts and started painting in various abstracts. Peter is survived by two sons, Daniel Jacobitz of South Berwick, Maine, and John Jacobitz Sterling of California, a daughter, Lisa Donahue of Yorktown, Virginia, and is also survived by 5 grandchildren. He was the brother of the late John and Frederick Jacobitz and Nadia Chase and Anne Cunningham. Visiting hours will be held on Saturday from 12 – 3 PM at the Conway, Cahill-Brodeur Funeral Home, 82 Lynn St., Peabody, followed by a graveside service on Monday at 11:00 AM at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Peabody, to which relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
